On Location in Belize: What's New TodayWednesday, March 31We're starting to receive images and data from Jake and the others. Since they're all busy being back in class, it will take a few days to get everything. We will add the material to the appropriate pages as it becomes available! Preparing to dive... Monday, March 29The researchers are back at home, and will be sending us their pictures and data soon. Jake has over 1300 images to give us! We'll add them to the appropriate pages as we get them. Friday, March 26Phone report from Jake tells us: Our research projects have gone great: we've got lots of data and good results. Jacquie and Janeva were able to do two to three transsects a day on the patch reefs in the lagoon. Today we dove off the West Wall: that's where the depth goes from 25 to over 1000 feet. There I saw Nassau and black grouper, and lots of other species that I came to look for! I'm coming home with loads of film: 37 rolls, over 1332 frames! The weather has been absolutely beautiful! We've been able to do two or three dives every day: the water temperature is 80, and the air temperature is 84. Yesterday we spotted an eagle ray jumping out of the water, and Stacy and Janeva caught kingfish and barracuda for dinner! We've had an amazing time, but are packing up our gear now for the trip home. It's been interesting: we've often lost power, which means we lose the phone. We're also low on water, so we've been living on Coke and Fanta! Tomorrow morning we leave on the boat: a four hour ride to Belize City. We'll try to catch up on the email from there. You can send email to me, Jake, at Photojake@aol.com. On Sunday, we fly from Belize City to Miami, then on to Boston, and will get home around 10:30 that night. We can't wait to show you all the great photos and videos we've taken! It's really been
an awsome trip!!
