2003 NASA Earth System Science Courses
Offered by the Gulf of Maine Aquarium



The Gulf of Maine Aquarium is pleased to host two earth system science courses developed by the Center for Educational Technologies™, Wheeling Jesuit University.

These fourteen-week graduate courses are being offered by the Gulf of Maine Aquarium and seventeen other sites around the nation. This project is supported by NASA's Earth Science Enterprise, Education Program, Goddard Space Flight Center.

Each course is structured as a collaborative learning experience and is held exclusively in an online electronic environment.

Course Overview:

Participants at the high school level will explore earth system science content using the Problem-Based Learning model. Elementary participants focus on building participant's content knowledge with an emphasis on bringing activities back to the classroom.

Course Dates: January 20, 2002 to May 11, 2002

Course Costs and Credit:

  • $75.00  for Books, Curriculum, and Materials, and

  • $25.00  for 4.5 CEUs, or
  • $355.50 for 3.0 Graduate Credits
